Lower Lonsdale

A historic waterfront neighbourhood in the city of North Vancouver. Home to the infamous SeaBus that connects the area to Downtown Vancouver, Lower Lonsdale also has a wealth of restaurant and entertainment options, and has been labelled the Yaletown of the Northshore.

This historic waterfront neighbourhood runs up Lonsdale Avenue from Lonsdale Quay to Keith Road in the City of North Vancouver. Early in the 20th century, this area was an integral part of the shipping industry, but recent redevelopment has transformed it into the Yaletown of the North Shore. With stunning waterfront views, and a wealth of restaurants and entertainment options, Lower Lonsdale is attracting many young professionals and families. Just 15 minutes to downtown Vancouver via SeaBus, and a quick drive from the North Shore Mountains, this neighbourhood offers the best of the city and the outdoors.

In the early 1900s, Lower Lonsdale was dominated by the shipping industry. For most of the 20th century, it hosted the largest shipyard in Western Canada, and built 1/3 of the country’s WWII victory ships. Following North Vancouver’s incorporation in 1907, the area experienced a real estate boom. Today, the population of North Vancouver is over 48,000.
