Overview:
This historic brick and wood beam building was built in 1896 by renowned architect N.S. Hoffar. Located in the heart of Gastown, it stands at the convergence of 4 of the neighbourhood’s busiest streets – Alexander, Powell, Carrall and Water. Guilt & Co., a popular destination for live music and libations, occupies the basement while the ground floor hosts Chill Winston and its alternative shareable menu. Above are 4 floors of office space, with new HVAC systems, an elevator, and a restored façade. The location is just as storied as the building itself – it was the site of Vancouver’s temporary “tent city hall” after the great fire of 1886.
